Bob Dorf is a top Lean Startup and customer development expert, second to Steve Blank. Together they built on Steve’s methodology to write the global bestseller "Startup Owner’s Manual," a seminal text detailing every startup-building step. 400,000+ copies have been sold in 16 languages worldwide. Today, Bob travels the world, training and coaching entrepreneurs and those who train them. He’s an Entrepreneur in Residence at Columbia Business School. Bob personally founded seven companies—“two homeruns, two base hits, and three solid tax losses.” His 30 startup investments included seven IPOs and six colossal failures(aka learning). At 22, Bob and a 200-pound dog co-founded startup #1, which had a staff of 150 when sold it in 1989. Number seven, Marketing 1to1 Inc., was an Inc. 500 company that grew from two co-founders to 450 people and a nine-figure series A in seven fast years. Bob lives in Stamford with his wife Fran, a therapist and thrice-published novelist. An avid bicyclist and skier, Bob’s proudest startup by far is daughter Rachel, a psychologist who also twice made him a grandpa.
